Pat is licensed to practice law in Kansas and Missouri. His legal background includes transactional work and litigation for secured lending, commercial, business and bankruptcy matters.

After attending Lawrence High School, Pat graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with honors in 1987. Pat attended Carolina on a Navy ROTC scholarship, and subsequently served as a naval officer prior to attending law school. Pat obtained his law degree from the University of Kansas in 1992, where he earned membership in the Order of the Coif. While at KU, Pat was a Note and Comment Editor for the Law Review.
